Snow Day Food

For me, snow day is the perfect excuse to spend the day cooking some tasty grub. Realizing that the winter weather warning was for real, yesterday I went down to the Kroger and got some supplies. Tonight we reaped the fruits of my labor.

This is what a Duck looks like, all thawed and removed from the vacuum packaging. Note the big poofy fat breasts. This is what we like.

This is what it looks like when it is done. I used Alton Brown's Mighty Duck method, in which the bird is quartered, steamed for 45 minutes, then the skin is browned in a nuclear core hot iron skillet in a 450 degree oven. It was really delicious. For all those haters out there who will complain that there is not a vegetable in my menu and therefore I am denying my family a balanced and nutritious dinner, allow me to direct your attention to the lovely green parsley leaves  on top. Try and convince me that is not a leafy green vegetable.

On the side:

Brioche

Potatoes

Home Made sticky buns for desert

The whole spread

Snow Days are the most awesomest thing in the whole galaxy. Tomorrow we go Mexican.

Snow days, huh? That's what it takes to get you posting again. Then I say, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"
